On the August 10 edition of ABC's This Week, ABC News political analyst Cokie Roberts (Republican, NPR) criticized Sen. Barack Obama -- who was born in Hawaii -- for "going off this week to a vacation in Hawaii," which she said "does not make any sense whatsoever." Roberts stated: "I know his grandmother lives in Hawaii and I know Hawaii is a state, but it has the look of him going off to some sort of foreign, exotic place." Roberts continued: "He should be in Myrtle Beach, and, you know, if he's going to take a vacation at this time."

John McCain acknowledges adultery in his second marriage too, with attractive, 32-year-old telecom lobbyist named Vicki Iseman
a top McCain aide met with Ms. Iseman at Union Station in Washington to ask her to stay away from the senator. John Weaver, a former top strategist and now an informal campaign adviser, said in an e-mail message that he arranged the meeting after "a discussion among the campaign leadership" about her.

Republicans, once hailed as the “party of ideas,” have become the party of stupid.
What I mean, instead, is that know-nothingism — the insistence that there are simple, brute-force, instant-gratification answers to every problem, and that there’s something effeminate and weak about anyone who suggests otherwise — has become the core of Republican policy and political strategy. The party’s de facto slogan has become: “Real men don’t think things through.”
Experts: Torture not only ineffective, it's counter productive
In contrast, considerable evidence -- along with the many years of operational experience by the nation's most accomplished interrogators -- strongly suggested that coercive methods not only failed to consistently obtain reliable intelligence, but that such tactics are largely counterproductive in that they stiffen the resolve of detainees under questioning and undermine the stature of the U.S. on the world stage.

Bush White House has its own torture room. from .Think by Satyam
In Ron Suskind’s new book, Suskind describes a disturbing case in Washington, D.C., where security officials detained and interrogated Usman Khosa, a Pakistani U.S. college graduate, because he was “fiddling” with his iPod near White House gates. Officials took Khosa to an interrogation room “beneath” the White House:

George Tenet And White House Admit Iraq's Intelligence Chief Told Them Iraq Had No WMD
Ron Suskind was on NPR this morning to discuss his new book The Way of the World, which alleges Iraq's intelligence chief Tahir Jalil Habbush told the US before the war that Iraq had no WMD.
NPR asked George Tenet and the White House for comment, and, remarkably enough, they both essentially admitted this was true.

Remember that bizarre story last week about the SWAT teams breaking down the door of a Maryland Mayor and shooting his two dogs? It gets better:
Prince George’s County authorities did not have a “no-knock” warrant when they burst into the home of a mayor July 29, shooting and killing his two dogs—contrary to what police said after the incident.
Doh!
Your 'liberal mdia' is perception management
The fact that the mainstream media has embraced the uppity-Obama storyline is further evidence of the right's ability to advance whatever preposterous storyline it chooses, despite its persistent whining about the liberal media.
Bush administration not only tries to kill a covert CIA agent, but it also paid off a wanted criminal to keep its secret.
To recap: In order to push the American public into war, the Bush administration not only jeopardized the safety of a covert CIA agent, but it also paid off a wanted criminal to keep its secret.
