Bush is criminally negligent in both going to war and in its management. Current police, army, and other nation building developments are being outstripped by the growth of the insurgency and at this rate, civil war is unavoidable.
Staying in Iraq at current levels is unsustainable for the US. Leaving Iraq as a semi-stable nation state means many, many more troops and money, which we, the US don’t have. Cutting and running means leaving dishonorably, but is in the US’s best interest.
King George is too stupid to figure any of this out, and is too arrogant to do anything different. So unless the rapture comes, don’t expect the administration to do anything different any time soon, and Iraq will slide inexorably into civil war at great expense to lives and treasure to the US, leaving us strategically weakened for decades.
