Seriously, the codifying of End Times into policy is one of the most horrifying developments of this decade.

"One of the biggest changes in politics in my lifetime is that the delusional is no longer marginal. It has come in from the fringe, to sit in the seat of power in the Oval Office and in Congress." The undertow of this administration and of its seemingly endless incompetence just might be faith in the apocalypse. Not faith in God, but in some form of sci-fi cosmic creature-cleansing that's going to foreshadow the return of the Savior. Why worry about the environment, the economy, women's rights, and children’s education when we're on the cusp of being immolated by Jesus the Destructor?

So when we natter on about Hillary or Feingold, the culture of corruption, why the Dems can't seem to get their message straight or the merits of universal healthcare and balanced budgets, we're in a parallel universe. A large percentage of our fellow citizens are preparing to deal with the consequences of a cataclysm sold to them by a bunch of whacked out preaching predators whose cosmology makes L. Ron Hubbard's seem positively rational.
