The Army was in a shit sandwitch with Pat Tillman.

They figured out he was murdered, but it would look really, really, REALLY bad if that came out. What to do? Three options: 1) come clean tell the truth, (aka Kennedy after the Bay of Pigs) 2)claim friendly fire and mourn the loss of a hero or 3) Hero John Wayne style going out in a moment of glory.

just a week after Tillman’s death, a top general who knew the official story was bogus and wrote a memo arguing that President Bush might embarrass himself if he used the incident for p.r. purposes.

So what did chimpy/rove do? They fucked it up like most things they do. For selfish political purposes, they picked and ran with option 3, then 2 and now 1. They fucked up the issue all ways possible. This begs the question: How much did the administration lean on the Army to cover it up? Some poor bastard in the Army may have been forced to lie for the administration in order to cover up a murder.

The hell the Tillmans must be in. God help and bless them.
