A stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks.

So why is it that republicans claim to love America, love Jesus, love 'values' but clearly hate Americans? Are republicans power hungry whores who would sell out a nation or are they just TRAITORS?

Why are republicans loath to correct utterly failed policy? WHY? It kills Americans and makes us less safe. Why are republicans so incompetent?

Like Digby, I feel that as sickening as it is to learn all the ways that Republicans covered up for Foley, and as reprehensible as all sexual exploitation of minors by adults is by Foley or anyone else, the truly outrageous national scandals perpetrated by the modern American rightwing are the rape of the US Constitution; the disgraceful neglect of the citizenry epitomized by 9/11 and Katrina; and perhaps most dramatically tragic, the unspeakable stupidity and madness of the war in Iraq and the utter failure of the Afghanistan war.

White House admits they LET 911 HAPPEN on purpose.

Members of the 9/11 have been outraged they did not know of the meeting, some calling it a crime. Yesterday Condi was thrown under the bus (motives unclear) by the White House, who confirmed the meeting did in fact take place.

Then we learn this morning from a Kos diary that the 9/11 commission did know of this meeting, (Rumsfeld and Ashcroft got the same Tenet briefing too) from “secret testimony.”

“Former CIA Director George Tenet gave the independent Sept. 11, 2001, commission the same briefing on Jan. 28, 2004, but the commission made no mention of the warning in its 428-page final report.”

I’m as flabbergasted and incredulous as I have ever been—what in name of holy Jesus, Mary & Joseph is going on here? How is it possible for 9/11 commission members not to know of this meeting after Tenet testimony, or to lie so easily in the last few days? Just what the fuck else was so “secret” about 9/11 that they’d leave something so critical deliberately out!?

How is it possible these scumbags, these lowest form of life sonzabitches asshole maggots, how could they ever think of lying to the American public about 9/11? Didn’t they possess any idea of the rage and fury such behavior would provoke among every American?

If you own a copy of 9/11 Commission Report use it to start fires, that’s all it’s good for. I still can hardly believe I have written the above words, but I have.

* We have more news this week-end that Karl Rove and the white house were actively and personally involved in all the Jack Abramoff congressional corruption scandals which feature ripping off taxpayers of many millions of dollars.
* It turns out that Bush fired Colin Powell.
* The intelligence community agree that the invasion of Iraq super-charged the extremist jihadist moviement and is fuelling terrorism far more quickly and broadly than we would have had to deal with otherwise.
* We have officially sanctioned torture and the repeal of habeas corpus --- at the least competent president in history's discretion.

First of all, Mark Foley is clearly one exceptionally screwed up dude. A semi-closeted gay Republican whose signature issue is online sex predators and missing kids sending sexually explicit IM's to congressional pages is one of the most blatant act of self-immolation I've ever seen.

It's the incompetence.

They couldn't protect us against Al Qaeda.

They can't protect our soldiers in Iraq.

Now, they can't protect children in the halls of Congress.
